Why Lobsters?

As we're sure most of you are wondering, where did "Wandering Lobsters" come from? To put it simply, it's a reference to an episode from the sitcom, Friends, where the character Phoebe explains her lobster theory to show how she knows Ross and Rachel were meant to be. She states, "It's a known fact that lobsters fall it love and mate for life. You can actually see old lobster couples walking around there tank holding claws." We picked up the nickname ourselves when we first started dating in college, and for whatever reason it has stuck with us since then.

New York City 2007

In 2007, we decided to take a break from camping to head to New York City for 10 days and stay with Sam's cousin Sara in Manhattan.  Neither of us had ever visited NYC before and we felt like this trip was overdue! We had no shame about being tourists, so we made sure to see all of the classic New York sights.

Sara lived in the financial district in Manhattan at the time, so everything was easy to get to.  And the remnants of the World Trade Towers were only two blocks away.

The site was overwhelming and took us back to the horrendous events of that day.  We were both taking I-STEP at the time as high school sophomores.  The moment we found out what happened will stay in our minds forever.  We would love to go back and see the new tower that's currently being built.

Overall, we had a blast in New York.  I have a fondness for big cities and we could finally say we'd been to the biggest city in the U.S.  Ten days would never be enough in NYC, so it's definitely on the travel list for the future too!
