In 2011, Erin's cousin got married in California, just north of San Diego in Oceanside. We made it an opportunity decided to add on Yosemite National Park!
We had not been camping in a couple years, so this was the perfect opportunity to get back to nature. We decided to stay a week in the park camping. We like to stay active when we travel, so some of the bigger hikes were on the list!
At the first site where we camped, we were able to see Mariposa Grove with the Giant Sequoia trees.

The Telescope Tree- A fire burned out the entire inside so you could see all the way through |
They were gigantic, and some of them even fit a car through the inside of their trunks. The tree at the top was the largest in the park, called the Grizzly Giant. One of largest branches off the Grizzly Giant had a 6-foot diameter! They reminded a little of the redwoods we saw in Big Basin Redwood State park on our first trip.
Within the next few days, we took on the Four Mile trail up to Glacier Point in the Valley. Glacier Point is one of the main lookouts, with especially great views of Half Dome! We then took the Panorama Trail back down to the Valley floor for over a 13 mile hike!

When he hiked the Upper Yosemite Falls, we visited the outlook and ate our lunch. Right before we were ready to start back down the trail, another hiker told us about a couple pools that were off the beaten track and we decided (with much hesitation from Erin) to follow him. To get there
All week, we worked up our longest hike to Half Dome.
